Recently, I went on a three-day road trip to Nakhon Ratchasima province in Northeastern Thailand. Locally, the main city is called Khorat. This is regarded as the gateway to lower Isaan. One of the main reasons for the trip was to attend the opening ceremony for the inaugural flights by NewGen airline from the Khorat city airport to Chiang Mai in the North and Phuket in the South. This now means that people don’t have to fly to these destinations via Bangkok any more.
