Blue Line subway extension to open for free in April

Some good news for people who use the MRT subway in Bangkok. The long-awaited extension west from Hua Lamphong to Lak Song will open ahead of schedule. It was recently announced that the general public will be able to ride the extension for free when it opens for a test run in April this year. It will then be officially opened in September 2019. The new extension is 14 kilometers long and has eleven stations. Of note for tourists are the stations in Chinatown and Rattanakosin island. The latter is only a short walk from the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and the Grand Palace.
